Meet Susannah.

Susannah J. Volkers, MABC, LPC, NCC

Welcome

Whether you’re starting therapy for the first time or starting therapy over again, finding someone can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. The key to effective therapy begins with the therapeutic relationship – a human to human connection. Keep reading to see if we might be a good fit:

I see individuals (16+), couples, and families for a range of issues including: trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transitions, adoption, relationship issues, premarital counseling, chronic illness, and spiritual concerns. I have an elementary understanding of Mandarin Chinese and apply cross-cultural experiences to counseling.

My clinical specialty is a Christian faith-based approach to counseling. This means that if you request it as part of your treatment, the foundation of our work can be centered around the Gospel, or good news of Jesus Christ.

Additionally, I integrate evidence-based treatment modalities to provide quality care, including:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a treatment approach that offers relief from emotional pain and safe processing of traumatic material

  • Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT), a treatment aimed at helping families resolve conflict, improve communication, and increase connectedness.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Mindfulness and somatic techniques
