EMDR and EMDR Intensives

EMDR: What is it?

EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing

EMDR is a type of therapy that promotes change - it not only can provide symptom relief, but unearth unhealthy roots and provide heart-level transformation. It can promote healthier relationships, deepen core convictions and beliefs, and allow life to be enjoyed.

EMDR addresses the psychological and physical symptoms stemming from adverse life experiences.

EMDR is not just for trauma; it is for those looking to get unstuck and change.

EMDR targets past memories, reduces present distress and prepares for future events.

Our Services

  • EMDR: Weekly Format

EMDR is a tye of therapy that we can utilize in a traditional, weekly format.

  • EMDR Intensives

EMDR Intensives are like a fast pass to accelerate healing. They are for when you want to feel better, ASAP.

EMDR Intensives: When weekly, 60-minute sessions aren’t cutting it.

EMDR Intensives are for you if:

  • You have weekly sessions with a therapist that are going well, but you’re still feeling stuck in a few key areas. Perhaps you continue to feel ongoing shame or guilt, or you know something to be true but the body feels so undone when you think about it.

  • You are a busy human with a demanding work schedule, family life and can’t make the time for recurring weekly appointments.

  • You are someone who wants to fix it fast. You are a doer who wants to get it done. You want to stop living this story out constantly as if it is still happening, but put it rightfully in your story and start living the rest of life.

FAQs

  • EMDR is a type of therapy, just like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy. EMDR therapy is for you if you are motivated to change, and ready to try an alternative to just talking through it.

Traditional EMDR may be a good fit if you don't have a talk therapist already, want to integrate other types of therapy (such as CBT), and want the holistic care of processing a difficult life experience.

EMDR Intensives may be a good fit if you have a specific experience that needs some attention and resolving, if you don't have the time and space in your schedule for ongoing care, as an adjunct to talk-therapy, and if you have heard about EMDR and are ready to experience it yourself.

  • -       The traditional model of weekly psychotherapy is shifting to meet your needs. Now more than ever, we need flexibility in how we get support.

    -       EMDR intensives are personalized treatment plans that allow you to skip the waitlist by giving you faster access to select spots, and are designed to support your preferred schedule and timeline for your treatment goals.

  • First, we will jump on a free 15-minute consultation call to see what you want to work on and your goals.

Then, I'll work with you to create a custom treatment plan for EMDR Intensive that accommodates your busy schedule and provides sufficient space for your therapeutic work. Typically, we will work together for 1, 3, or 4 days (either half days of 3 hours or full days of 5-6 hours) over the course of 1-2 weeks - but this is customizable and adaptable.

Then our work begins. We start with an Intake session, and then jump into processing, and close out each session with grounding techniques and applications for your day to day life.

  • My standard rate for EMDR sessions is: $225/Intake; $175/each session thereafter.

For an EMDR Intensive, the cost is dependent on the days and hours we decide to work together for. I can create a custom package for you based on what you're looking to work on.

    A note on insurance:

I don't accept insurance, but I work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. To see if you qualify for reimbursement, you can use this link:

If you qualify, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up using this link:

Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.

    • Intensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. Learn more here andhere.

    • Intensive EMDR treatment is feasible and is indicative of reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms in a very short time frame. Learn more here.

    • An intensive program using EMDR therapy is a potentially safe and effective treatment alternative for complex PTSD. Learn more here.

    • The economy is compelling: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.
